Welcome home, beach soccer

by By H.E. Saeed Hareb, General Secretary of Dubai Sports Council

H.E. Saeed Hareb is General Secretary of the Dubai Sports Council

We are tremendously happy to see a new edition of the Samsung Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup come to pass. We are happy to have beach soccer, with its huge spectacle, pace, strength and passion, back in Dubai, back at home, with a top class competition involving the best teams of the six continents; a truly successful competition, moreover, which has already demonstrated its firm footing and appeal year after year, flying into millions and millions of TV sets in more than 120 countries around the world.

After more than a decade of success, beach soccer and Dubai are now an inseparable coupling, and today it is impossible not to think about Dubai as one of the most beloved homes of this sport. After several Asian Qualifiers, five Intercontinental Cups and even a FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, the bonds between the city and the sport are stronger than ever.

Dubai Sports Council, under the privileged vision of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum have always believed that beach soccer is an ideal fit for our city, and this is why we have always offered our best to the sport.

Dubai is the perfect place for sports, and the ideal venue for top-notch competitions. It is not only the fantastic weather, but also the cosmopolitan and vivid atmosphere of the city, the welcoming approach of its people, the capacity and devotion of its professionals, the passion of the fans, which all go along with the excellent facilities that the Emirate treasures. Those are just some of the things that make our city the perfect destination.

We are also very proud to see how beach soccer, its fans, and its professionals, really enjoy their experience here. This has lead to making Dubai as the regular venue not only for the Samsung Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup, but also for two very special events like the FIFA Beach Soccer Workshop, the meeting of the top beach soccer experts from around the world, and the Beach Soccer Stars night, an evening that celebrates the end of the season and awards the best of the best on the sand.
