Beach Soccer future shines bright in Iran

Several meetings between FIFA Beach Soccer officials and Iranian Football Federation boost plans for upcoming years

The Iranian Football Federation, with president Ali Kafashian ahead, and FIFA Beach Soccer have been holding some very productive meetings this last week. In the meeting both parts agreed to keep working together for the development of the sport in the country.

A FIFA Beach Soccer commission, with FIFA Beach Soccer Committee member Joan Cusco and managers Josep Ponset and Alex Soriano, has been in Iran for the last week, having different conversations with the national football and beach soccer governing body and visiting different venues and some of the Iranian FA facilities all across the country.

Joan Cusco congratulated and highlighted the great work developed by the Iranian FA and its beach soccer committee.

Iran is a great example for all the countries in the world. They have not only built one of the strongest National Teams in the world, but also developed a powerful national league with different divisions and great stadiums. They have supported and projected women’s beach soccer, and also introduced different youth categories. I really want to highlight this excellent job”, he said.

Next step to work on, both Cusco and Kafashian agreed, is the organization of a top-flight international event. Iran, with such a passionate-about-football population, and its thousands of kilometers of coastal line and beaches, is an ideal place to become an international beach soccer hub.

In this same sense, the FIFA Beach Soccer visit also includes two site inspections to different places in the country that could host such kind of event. First of them is Kish Island, in the Persian Gulf, and the other one is Anzali, in the north of the country, home of most of the National Team players.
