The European Games Baku 2015 Beach Arena hosted players from each team along with 15 boys from the Baku Fire Football Club on June 25th
To anyone that says beach soccer is only a game, I can assure you and them, that they are dead wrong. Sport in general always has an opportunity to give back to a community, though not all sports do, however beach soccer consistently makes the extra effort to show locals and fans all the good it does and can do. Azerbaijan, Hungary, Italy, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, and Ukraine all had representatives on the sands of the European Games Baku 2015 Beach Arena for a clinic on the 25th of June. The clinic included players from each of the participating teams but was for the benefit of the Baku community and 15 boys from the Baku Fire Football Club.
The fun and games were highlighted by a friendly but very competitive match after the training was finished. The training started with exercises to show the children the importance of warming up, and those were followed by tips from the professionals, on bicycles, scissor kicks, and flicks on the sand. In addition to the above mentioned activities, which the children all thoroughly enjoyed, the National Selection players also gave the young students of the game more tips on how to succeed in beach soccer, as playing on the sand is a very different discipline than any other modality.
Switzerland had three superb players help with the clinic; Leu, Kaspar, and Jaeggy. All three players are key cogs in the Swiss beach soccer team. Plus, Kaspar brought an official jersey to give to one of the children, which was determined by a juggling contest. The child who could keep the ball in the air the longest, without touching the ground at any point, was awarded the amazing prize. The European Games Baku 2015 finishes on the 28th of June, on the same day that the gold, silver, and bronze medals are given in beach soccer.
