Catania makes bold move with new coach

4-time World Cup champion with Brazil, Alexandre Soares joins the Catania bench as the new manager for the new Serie A Enel season

The “Gênio” will start coaching and bring his impressive resume along with him for the 11th season of the Italian top beach soccer league, the Serie A Enel, joining one of the top squads in the championship, Catania Beach Soccer. Soares has recorded a record 75 straight victories with the Brazilian National team to go along with his four World Cups as well.

Catania and their club, the rossoazzurro, have not hoisted a title in four seasons as their previous coach, Fabrizio Belluso, last led them to the “promised land” in the Scudetto 2008 and the Supercoppa 2009 finals.

Alexander Soares is known for his brilliant tactics and growth of young talent, so the Sicilian side, who is dedicated to winning and beach soccer in general, is a perfect fit. Catania is a hotbed for beach soccer and this year will be the same. The city will host the Seria A Scudetto 2014 finals, as well as the Euro Winners Cup, a tournament featuring the best of Europe´s club teams, from June 3rd-8th.

The excitement was already scolding coming into this season and now, even more so, the fans, club, and players are all very animated to see the magic from Soares and where he can take them. Let the season begin.
