The line-up for the women’s Euro Winners Cup quarter-finals is complete after Thursday’s group finales.
Catanzaro and DomusBet Catania made it through to the quarter-finals of the Euro Winners Cup women’s competition on Thursday after finishing as the two best third-placed teams.
Catanzaro made certain of third place in Group C and bolstered their goal difference with a convincing 13-1 victory against Nomme Kalju – Lele, Marino and Borello each grabbing hat-tricks.
Hosts DomusBet Catania Ladies also ensured third place in their group after taking their Pool A tally to six points with an impressive 4-3 win over leaders DTS Ede.
Sogesport Club Esportiu also ensured progression, finishing behind Ede in Group A thanks to their resounding 9-2 win over Sparta Dalesyzce, while BeachKick Ladies Berlin and Grasshopper Club Zurich captured top spots in their respective groups, having already qualified.
Grasshopper finished first in Group B after winning a thriller against Portsmouth Ladies 4-3 that saw both sides hold the lead in the final period while BeachKick edged WFC Zvezda on penalties in their battle to be crowned group winners.
After the sides shared 10 goals in normal time, the Russian outfit moved past BeachKick Ladies Berlin on sudden-death penalties 4-3, with German goalkeeper Schultze the unfortunate player to miss the crucial penalty.
Elsewhere, ASD Lady Terracina won the battle for third spot in Group B with a hard-fought 8-4 won against HTC Zwolle but failed to progress due to their inferior goal difference to Catanzaro.
