The National FA has set up a multi-activity summer programme to empower the growth of the sport in its heavenly beaches
The Cayman Islands have dived into Beach Soccer. The Caribbean resort is doing its first steps to empower the growth of the sport in its privileged beaches, and the national Football Association has scheduled a Beach Soccer programme for this summer. Several courses and activities will happen in the upcoming months, all of them based in the sands by the Royal Palms, with which the CIFA has signed a three year deal regarding these kind of activities after the agreement reached between Bruce Blake (CIFA General Secretary) and Phil Walsh (Royal Palms Manager).
Beach Soccer is one of the fastest growing sports in the world, and the CIFA is working with FIFA to increase the profile of the sport in the Cayman Islands and the Caribbean. The Cayman Islands has a reputation for having some of the world’s best beaches, and it is a natural venue for the sport. At the same time, the CIFA has set up a Beach Football Committee to assist in the planning for the new competitions, and will be launching an affiliate body, the Cayman Islands Beach Football Association, which will act as the national governing body of beach football.
Indeed, a refereeing and coaching course was already held in a near beach some weeks ago, as one of the first manifestations of the awakening of the Cayman Islands to the most spectacular version of the Beautiful game.
