Egypt and Lebanon earn first points

The hosts storm past Kuwait, as Lebanon uses penalty-kick shootout to eventually top Group B

First matchday in Sharm El Sheikh left two teams atop of the two different groups: Egypt, who loudly beat Kuwait in the opening match of the International Beach Soccer tournament, and Lebanon, who needed extra time and penalty shootout to bend Hungary.

The hosts wanted to offer a great impression in the opening match of their competition, and they absolutely did, with a laudable beach soccer display and an indisputable win. Mohamed Gamal was, without a doubt, the key man for the Pharaohs. Five goals, four of them in the last period of the game, gave no option to the Kuwaiti, who will take on England in the second matchday.

Things were way tighter in the second fixture of the day, with Lebanon and Hungary squaring off for the eventual first place in Group B. After the struck exchange, regular time ended with 6-6 on the score, so game was sent to extra time, and the penalty kick shootout. There, after an amazing run, the Lebanese ended up getting the point at stake thanks to the final 9-8.
