El Salvador gets ahead in Copa Centroamericana

The Cuscatleco side used a consistent 5-1 win over Belize, as Panama and Costa Rica end 2 apiece

Hosts El Salvador became the first leader in the Copa Centroamericana de Fútbol Playa, following a stout win over Belize in the opening day of the competition. 

Local hero Rubén Batres, with two goals, lead the scoring production for the Azul Playera, with Herber Ramos, Darwin Ramírez and Carlos Martínez also adding their names to the list. 

Evan Mariano’s effort for Belice was too little too late to try and contest the Salvadoran dominance in the game, and the final whistle left Rudis Gallo’s side atop of the table after this first matchday at the Copa Centroamericana de Futbol Playa. 

In the other game of the day, with defending CONCACAF champions Panama and Costa Rica kick starting the competition, the final result was 2-2, what had both sides getting one point. 

Rachith Gómez and Christian Sánchez, for Costa Rica, and Pascual Gálvez and Alfonso Maquensi, for Panama, left the final score 2 two apiece. 

The Copa Centroamericana de Fútbol Playa, taking place at the Costa del Sol National Stadium in El Salvador, comes back today, with two trhilling games for this second matchday.
