The Suzuki Swiss League determined Sable Dancers champions while the National Selection defeated Hungary in a friendly match
The defending league champion BSC Sable Dancers Bern successfully retained their title over the weekend in a thrilling final against Grasshopper Club Zurich. Spiez, one of the most emblematic venues of the Alpine championship, saw the Dancers defeat the 2012 kings, Grasshopper 7-5.
Both teams are stacked with talent from the Swiss National Team as well as from all over the world. Grasshoper has two of the Nati’s superstars, Noel Ott and Dejan Stankovic. Sable Dancers also have their own National Selection star in Philip Borer, as well as international players from Tahiti and the Bahamas.
In the women’s Beach Soccer Cup, GC Beach prevailed in the final, after beating Beach Soccer Club Jona in the final (4-7).
Friendly Switzerland-Hungary
All of the action continued in a delightfully competitive friendly between the national sides of Switzerland and Hungary. The match was played in beautiful Spiez, which is no stranger to not only Swiss beach soccer, but as this game can attest to, also international beach soccer.
A full-house witnessed some great beach soccer from the games’ brightest stars as the recently crowned EBSL Superfinal MVP, Noel Ott, scored four goals, en route to helping his side win 6-2 over Hungary. The Swiss started strong and saw themselves gain a three goal advantage, when Hungary struck back with two quick goals to pull within one goal at 3-2. Ott would not let his team go down that easily and scored two of the next three goals to put his team up for good.
