Favourites need to fight for their points

Seferihisar, Sable Dancers, Artur Music, Catania and Kristall close day one with wins, as Goldwin and Bohemians upset Terracina and Djoker on extra time

Comeback falls short as Goldwin wins in overtime

Goldwin Pluss Bodon FC managed to upset Coppa champions Terracina in their debut in the Euro Winners Cup 2014. The thrilling overtime match seemed over after the Italian side was down 3-0, but the ‘Puntini’ turned things around and tied the score at 3 in the final seconds of the third frame. Though Goldwin would not be denied and finished the match in overtime with an early goal. The win gives Goldwin Pluss two points and a win against a tough foe. The loss pots Terracina BS behind in the group but with plenty of time to catch up.

The first frame was back and forth with both teams trying to get into an offensive rhythm with Goldwin Pluss doing the early damage with two goals. The defense filled second period began with great chances that were continually stopped until Spaca of the Hungarian team scored his third of the match. The final period was exhilarating as Terracina´s Llorenç sent the game into overtime with his 3rd strike. Overtime was thrilling as well but Goldwin Pluss was determined to not be haunted by allowing the comeback and made sure of their win with a great shot from their star Fekete.

Goals: 1-0: Spaca, min. 3 (1); 2-0: Spaca, min. 2 (1); 3-0: Spaca, min. 6 (2); 3-1: Llorenç, min. 1 (2); 3-2: Llorenç, min.11 (3); 3-3: Llorenç, min. 0 (3); 4-3: Fekete, min. 2 (et).

Eremeev’s prolific afternoon bags the points for Seferihisar

Having a double world champion within your ranks is something that can definitely hel pyou win some matches. Today, it was a clear example of that, as Seferihisar Cittaslow used an inspired afternoon by Egor Eremeev to seal a win that leaves them on top of the table in the group D pool of this Euro Winners Cup 2014.

A 0-3 run in the first two periods seemed to draw a pleasant afternoon for Seferihisar Cittaslow. Ushkyn Iskra cut the distance with Nurzhan’s effort, but that was immediately responded with Eremeev’s third hit. The Kazakh champions did not give up, though, and with two goals got just one down. At this point, it seemed that Ushkyn Ishkra side could attempt a late assault in search of the points, but Romanian Maci closed that door with the 3-5 with just one minute to go.

Goals: 0-1: Semih, min. 0 (1); 0-2: Eremeev, min. 5 (2); 0-3: Eremeev, min. 4 (2); 1-3: Nurzhan, min. 4 (2); 2-4: Alexanor, min. 3 (3); 3-4: Birzhan, min. 3 (3); 3-5: Maci, min. 1 (3)

Sable Dancers cruise to win and three points

The three points for the Sable Dancers after solid win over Portsmouth BSC puts them in a great position after 5 and 4 goal performances from Tiki Toa Labaste and Leu, going into their next match on Wednesday against BS Bohemians 1905. The British club is still in a good position to learn from the loss and will hope to flip the script when they play CS Djoker Tornado-Chisinau on Wednesday. As is the case in beach soccer, no two matches are ever the same, giving even more excitement and less predictability to every match.

A strong start from the Swiss club team, Sable Dancers, put them up early against the English team, Portsmouth Beach Soccer Club. The second was much of the same though none of the goals came easy and Portsmouth got on the board in the middle of the frame though they were still down by five goals. The scoring was abundant in the final period with Portsmouth attempting to mount a comeback although they were unable to maintain a stable defense and the match ended with a score of 10-3, Sable Dancers.

Goals: 0-1: Leu, min. 11 (1); 0-2: Leu, min 3 (1); 0-3: Leu, min. 11 (1); 0-4: Labaste, min. 8 (2); 0-5: Leu, min. 5 (2); 0-6: Labaste, min. 3 (2); 1-6: Day, min. 2 (2)); 1-7: Labaste, min. 1 (2); 1-8: Labaste, min. 7 (3); 2-8: Day, min. 5 (3); 2-9: Labaste, min. 5 (3); 3-9: Bowes, min. 5 (3); 3-10: Schirinzi, min. 2 (3).

Artur Music uses stifling defense to earn win

A hard fought battle showed all the best facets of beach soccer as the Ukrainian team, Artur Music, and the Israeli club, Falfala Kfar Qassem, played very tightly throughout but Artur Music proved the more determined side. The 4-2 win for the Ukrainian side gives them three points in their opening match of the tournament and will play Beach Soccer Egmond on Wednesday. Despite the goal differential, Falfala Kfar Qassem played a very close match and will look to earn their first points against Beach Soccer Egmond on Thursday.

The opening period was dominated by offensive strikes that were nearly struck home, however Artur Music was able to score first midway through the frame. In the first period, missed chances were the theme but the middle frame featured amazing saves from both keepers, but Artur Music was able to add to their lead, heading into the final break up by two goals at 3-1. Closing statements can sometimes be the most important thing in a match and the Ukrainian club made theirs with an early goal in the final frame and held on to win 4-2.

Goals: 0-1: Rysenko, min. 6 (1); 0-2: Zborovskyi, min. 9 (2); 1-2: Reyder, min. 2 (2); 1-3: Hladchenko, min. 0 (2); 1-4: Zborovskyi, min. 10 (3); 2-4: Ahmed, min. 3 (3).

Catania BS completes late comeback

Host Catania won 4-3 in their first game at Euro Winners Cup after taking an early lead, despite a tough opposition by Kreiss. The Latvian club came back and fought tough in the close loss, bringing on a very difficult time for the rossoblu in front of their own people. The home crowd cheered and groaned with each opportunity and missed chance from their hometown club. The 4-3 win for Catania BS puts them ahead in their group and looking forward to their match against Aluminios Sotelo on Wedneday. The loss was bitter for Kreiss but they have every opportunity to make up for it against the Spanish side on Thursday.

Catania BS came out strong in the opening frame by scoring an early goal, fending off some dangerous attacks from Kreiss, and even scored another goal, late in the period, to come up 2-0 into the first break. Kreiss made their move in the middle frame, scoring an early goal and keeping Catania off of the score sheet, and they went into the final period behind only one goal at 2-1. Kreiss was determined to leave with a win and took a lead early in the period but were unable to sustain the momentum and gave up two last minute goals as Catania completed the unlikely late game reversal to win 4-3.

Goals: 1-0: Rodrigo, min. 9 (1); 2-0: Zurlo, min. 0 (1); 2-1: Stepanuks, min. 9 (2); 2-2: Stepanuks, min. 10 (3); 2-3: Sens, min. 9 (3); 3-3: Fred, min. 1 (3); 4-3: Rodrigo, min. 0 (3).

Kristall gets rid of a weak Augur Enemat in first period

Russian champions Kristall Beach Soccer Club used a terrifically prolific first period to rule out any expectations Augur Enemat could have in their debut at the Euro Winners Cup 2014. Marmor’s side was absolutely helpless and outmatched in front of a powerful team that finished the game in the first 12 minutes.

That 0-5 run in the opening frame left the game fairly unbalanced already. That time was enough to notice that the Marmor-steered side had no weapons nor beach soccer arguments enough to harm Kristall. After that moment, the Russian champions seemed to took their foot off the gas pedal, and went for a possession game, trying to save efforts for what is coming on next days. The Estonians managed to take advantage of that, and Arst pulled one back for Augur Enemat in the last leg, but, just as Aksenov confirmed later on, that was far not enough.

Goals: 0-1: Jorginho, min. 11 (1); 0-2: Datinha, min. 10 (1); 0-3: Jorginho, min. 9 (1); 0-4: Datinha, min. 5 (1); 0-5: Paporotnyi, min. 0 (1); 1-5: Arst, min. 10 (3); 1-6: Aksenov, min. 3 (1)

Overtime is needed to decide BS Bohemians 1905 winners

BS Bohemians prevailed 4-3 against CS Djoker club after a last second goal in the final period from the Moldovan, and then one in overtime to seal the win for the Czechs. In a battle of tough goalkeepers and huge strikes, it was a roller coaster to watch both the Czech side and Moldovan club teams go back-and-forth. BS Bohemians 1905 of the Czech Republic went up early but were immediately matched in their intensity by CS Djoker Tornado-Chisinau of Moldova. BS Bohemians scored two second period goals and looked to be cruising to a victory until two third period goals by the Moldovan side, one with under 5 seconds left, sent the game into overtime. The win gives BS Bohemians 2 points heading into their next match with Sable Dancers on Wednesday. CS Djoker will next play Portsmouth on Wednesday as well.

The opening period had two quick goals, one from each side, but after the surge, both defenses settled in and the score remained level at the end of the period. CS Djoker spent most of the second period on the attack but could not find the back of the net and on the opposite side, they conceded two goals to BS Bohemians, who cemented their lead. The Czech club used sound defense to keep the team from Moldova from making a comeback, but all efforts aside, CS Djoker kept knocking at the door, scored, and then used a dramatic last second goal to send the game into overtime. In overtime, both sides seemed destined for penalties, until BS Bohemains scored in the final seconds to shock their opponents and win 4-3.

Goals: 0-1: Mizar, min. 11 (1); 1-1: Negara, min. 10 (1); 1-2: Bocek, min. 7 (2); 1-3: Chalupa, min. 4 (2); 2-3: Baesu, min. 9 (3); 3-3: Comlionoc, min. 0 (3); 3-4: Kubice, min. 0 (et).
