Final four complete second group stage line-up

The second phase begins on Wednesday, with all 16 participating teams now confirmed.

The final line-up for the second stage of FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup qualification was confirmed on Tuesday as Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Hungary and Belarus progressed from their respective groups.

Group D

Switzerland made it three wins from three in qualification for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup with a 7-0 beating of Greece on Tuesday.

Angelo Schirinzi’s men have conceded just one goal in Jesolo and took their goals-for column to 33 as Ott’s hat-trick alongside further goals from Hodel, Jaeggy, and Stankovic took them above the Greeks, who progress in second.

Netherlands moved off the bottom with a 3-2 win against Lithuania on Tuesday.

Neither side had a point to their name before their meeting and initially Lithuania were on course to avoid fourth place when Smolkovas broke the deadlock.

However, Kampman levelled in the second frame before Hiemstra and Donker struck late on to salvage pride for the Dutch on their recent return to the sport.

Group E

Spain tied up top spot in Group E with a 4-2 win over second-place Poland.

The sides were level on six points and already qualified going into the clash but it was the Spanish who gained the advantage of finishing first thanks to goals from R. Merida, Llorenc, Chiky and Juanma in a close-fought affair.

Estonia wrapped up third thanks to a comfortable 7-1 success against Denmark.

The two nations had both been beaten by Spain and Poland, but it is Estonia who end the competition with points to their name as a Maeorg hat-trick helped them to victory in the Jesolo rain, with Oster’s consolation never likely to spark Danish comeback.

Group F

Ukraine stood perfect and confirmed their position as the best team in Group F of this first stage of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Qualifier Europe Jesolo 2016, following a dominant 9-0 win over Czech Republic.

Group G

Hungary are also through to the next stage of FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup qualification despite their 8-7 defeat to Group G winners France.

The Hungarians had one point to their name before play began but knew a win or a low-scoring defeat could see them through, and in a thrilling contest they twice surrendered leads to a dogged French outfit.

Having been pegged back from 5-2 and 7-5, Hungary then saw Bizot clinch France’s third win of the group, although the Magyars progress as the second best third-ranked side.

Azerbaijan too booked their place in the next round with a 4-1 win over Bulgaria.

The recent Promotion Final winners were in a strong position in Group G after beating Hungary but saw Adamov cancel out Asif’s opener as they struggled to see off a stubborn Bulgarian outfit.

Eventually, Abdul, Ilkin and Orkhan made sure of the points late on – Azerbaijan settling into second behind group winners France.
