Goals don?t miss opening day at the II Asian Beach Games

Beach Soccer has played its role as one of the key sports in this second edition of the Asian Beach Games, and has brought a great show onto the Al Musannah Sports City. In the first matchday of the competition, the eight teams from group C and D came onto the sand, and produced a 32 goals record for 4 matches, making clear what this sport is about. Some of the squads, besides, have already set clear they are definitely going for the medals.

One of them is Japan, who got rid of Thailand (8-2) in the opening games of the competition. The Nippon side, coached by Brazilian Rui Ramos, showed no mercy on their opponents, and they had already finished the game by the first period thanks to hits by Goto (2), Kawaharazuka, and the involuntary help by Saetiaw, with an own goal. That made things really uphill for Thailand, and, although Sonwist shortened the distance, their nightmares Goto and Kawaharazuka kept finding the way to net to turn what was a hard task into something actually impossible.

Iran joined the Japanese in the race for Group C’s head, and inflicted a solid victory to Lebanon (4-9) after a leveled first period. Ahmadzadeh became one of the heroes for his team slotting up to four balls in.

In Group D, China and Bahrain top the table, after their victories over Vietnam and Palestine, respectively. The Chinese, who get momentarily ahead thanks to a better goal register, managed a 5-0 run that had almost finished all Vietnamese possibilities when Dang Quoc Hung’s lads began their reply. Bahrain, although being earmarked as one of the favourites, found it really difficult to tear the Palestinian resistance, and it was not until the third period that hits by Aldoseri and Mubarak gave them the points.

The competition will go on tomorrow, featuring the teams from group A and B, with hosts Oman among them. The match schedule for tomorrow goes as follows:
