A new man is at the helm of the Guyana beach soccer National Selection and it is renowned Brazilian born coach Leo Braga
Guyana has a goal of qualifying for the next FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Bahamas 2017 and will be making a big leap forward with their new leader, Leo Braga. Braga is a Brazilian born coach who has been behind the bench for some spectacular runs with some amazing teams. He takes over this position after a stint with Kuwait as their head coach but a move closer to home and his roots was more than enough to entice Braga to make the move from the Middle East to the CONCACAF region.
Brazil is the founding father of the sport and it is very understandable as to why Braga has had such success leading teams, because he has always been around the sport and being the top assistant and hand-picked at that, to help lead the Brazilian National Selection. Braga is proudest, however, when speaking of his efforts leading club teams, which includes: Vasco da Gama in 2013 where he led them to the Brazil Cup in Manaus, while also winning the Carioca championship, Botafogo in 2014, and the Rio de Janeiro Selection in 2014 as well. All-in-all, Leo Braga has been coaching beach soccer for over 16 years at national and international levels.
Guyana is trying to bolster their beach soccer program and with the hiring of Leo Braga and the development programs they already have in place, this will be a pivotal year for them. Guyana will attempt to qualify for the next World Cup, which will be close to home, in the CONCACAF region, in the Bahamas. Guyana and Braga will have much work to do to get to the level of the Americans, Mexicans, El Salvadorians, and Costa Ricans, but the coach knows how to build a program, specifically after successes in Kuwait, but his track-record already speaks for itself and has earned him the respect of his new side and also his competitors.
