Hillier inducted into Portsmouth Hall of Fame

The England striker becomes the first ladies player to feature among Pompey’s greats.

England and Portsmouth Beach Soccer striker Gemma Hillier has become the first ladies player to be inducted into Pompey’s Hall of Fame.

The 30-year-old was part of the Euro Beach Soccer Cup-winning England team in Nazaré this year, picking up the Top Scorer award in the process, while having also helped Pompey Ladies to the final of the Euro Winners Cup in the same stadium weeks earlier.

Hillier retired from football duty with Portsmouth Ladies recently to focus on beach soccer, having made a club record 282 appearances for the club, scoring 92 goals in the process.

Now she becomes the first ladies player to make it into the former FA Cup winners’ Hall of Fame, and will be formally inducted in March next year.
