Italy smiles at last…

Great performance by the Azzurri amid a great party, as Russia, Switzerland and Portugal get the points too

Monstrous second period by Switzerland destroys Poland (12-8)

Eight goals in just one period talk about nothing but an amusing offensive power pumped with a steel-made determination. These two element brought Switzerland to come back a unfavorable score and finally bend dynamic Polish National Team, in a match that have absolutely earned a relevant place in the history of the sport, banking an overall of…20 goals!!!

When Poland got 0-2 ahead, it seemed that the Swiss nightmare was not over, after the painful defeat they stomached yesterday against Romania. During the whole first period, current EBSL runner-up were unable to counteract the Polish dominion, apparently stunned after seeing themselves suffer a score they could expect. But the break brought fresh air to the Alpine side, who starred an incredible comeback during the second half. In that 12 minutes, an amazing 8-1 left Poland helpless in front of the Beach Soccer torrent by Stankovic, Meier and co.

At the third period, Poland try to shake the Swiss punishment off, and kept fighting regardless fate seemed to be now smiling at the Alpine. That brought a thrilling spectacle, a goal exchange which was nothing else than to the benefit of the crowd. At some point, the Polish even managed to get real close to the Swiss again, struggling back from a 10-5 to a  10-8. Seeing things get dangerous again, Schirinzi’s side decided that it was the time to finish any dream their opponents may have of turning the score around, and two new strokes managed the final 12-8, and the chance for the alpine to fight to win this EBSL Terracina stage.

Portugal strengthens candidacy

2010 European Champions Portugal wants to have homework done the sooner the better. Madjer’s team seeks to secure their presence in the EBSL Superfinal yet in this first event of the season, and they kept on the winning mode today to clinch their fifth points out of six. This time, though, they did not need any agonic comeback nor extra time to bend France, who will have to wait to their next stage to get the chance of being in the Hague, too.

Despite not many things happened during the first eleven minutes of the first period, with only Belchior having some say onto the score with the game’s opener, the last fifty seconds of this first leg turned into a real frenzy. Madjer, twice, Pagis and Eduard made the score go from 1-0 to 3-2 in less than one minute. This is what Beach Soccer is about…

After the first break, Portugal got in real command of the game, letting Les Bleus no chance to upset Joao Carlos, at the same time Bruno Novo, Coimbra and Jordan widened the distance to almost deny all French options. When Fayos could finally break the Lusitanian resistance, time was  not enough for François’ team to change the course of the match, absolutely on Portuguese hands at that time…

Goals: 1-0: Belchior, min. 8 (1); 2-0: Madjer, min. 0 (1); 2-1: Pagis, min. 0 (1); 3-1: Madjer, min. 0 (1); 3-2: Edouard, min. 0 (1); 4-2: Coimbra, min. 8 (2); 5-2: Bruno Novo, min. 2 (2); 6-2: Jordan, min. 3 (3); 6-3: Fayos, min. 1 (3);

Russia keep their march against the Spanish breed (6-2)

Russia eyes no other end than defending current Euro Beach Soccer League title, and they beat Spain today to go on with the mission they just started yesterday against France. The Spaniards offered a tough resistance, although got things really difficult after a harsh beginning that left them 4-0 down.

As usual, Russia was rather quick in opening the score, with Shaykov unbalancing the match in the 6th minute. Fate was then cruel with Spain, as right after Amarelle was unable to beat Bukhlistkiy from the penalty-kick spot, Shishin raised the 2-0 on the score in the very following move. Little afterwards, Makarov made it 3-0 and brought the match exactly where Likhachev’s side wanted it to be, there where the World Champions feel absolutely at home. By forcing opponents to fight against an iron-made defense, they get the spaces to finish the game, at the time they have the confronting side getting tired and tired.

Although Shaykov managed the 4-0, the formula did not completely work for Russia. They got Spain needing to save no effort trying to cut the distance back, but they could not find the cracks they wanted on La Roja’s rearguard. That helped Alonso’s team to grow, and the Torres twins found the prize to that enthusiasm, having things 4-2 at the end of the second period. But coming back a 4-0 score against Russia is a Titanic, if ever possible, task. And if the goalposts join Bukhlitskiy’s cause, and Makarov’s re-widens the difference as he did in the third, it gets even tougher. Time kept making it impossible for Spaniards to contest the established Russian authority, further confirmed thanks to Shishin’s hit right over the final horn, and Likhachev’s side ended up bagging their sixth points in the tournament.

Goals: 1-0: Shaykov, min. 6 (1); 2-0: Shishin, min. 3 (1); 3-0: Makarov, min. 0 (1); 4-0: Shaykov, min. 10 (1); 4-1: Javi Torres, min. 2 (2); 4-2: Cristian Torres, min. 0 (2); 5-2: Makarov, min. 6 (3); 6-2: Shishin, min. 0 (3)

Italy meet best version again at the right moment

The Italian National side would not let anyone ruin their party once again. With an amazing crowd turning the Terracina Beach Stadium upside down and bringing a terrific atmosphere, Esposito’s team could do nothing else than contributing decisively to the magic raised by the Mediterranean. After their bitter defeat yesterday to Poland at the extra time they kind of owed it….

Romania hit the sand boasting the best figures of the group, after their surprising victory over Switzerland. But, right at that moment, seeing the packed stands and hearing the Italian chants thundering the afternoon, they were already 0-1 down… Palmacci turned this moral advantage into a real one in the ninth minute, only to find Maci reply immediately. That reminded too much the way things happened yesterday, and the bigger this bad memory would get when Luci equalized Corosiniti’s 2-1.

But that was the end of the Romanian affront, and the beginning of the Italian rise. As of the beginning of the second period, there was only one ruler on the Terracina sand, and it was the Azzurri squad, carried shoulder-high by their devoted and passionate crowd. Hit after hit, Italy built a delightful victory that leaves them on top of the table, together with Switzerland, who they are to take on tomorrow to decide who’s the best in group B (15.15 h), and pays in return all the unconditional support by all their fans.

Goals: 1-0: Palmacci, min. 9 (1); 1-1: Maci, min. 9 (1); 2-1: Corosiniti, min. 8 (1); 2-2: Luci, min. 7 (1); 3-2: Corosiniti, min. 9 (2); 4-2: Leghissa, min. 7 (2); 5-2: Leghissa, min. 5 (2); 6-2: Palmacci, min. 0 (2); 7-2: Leghissa, min. 10 (3); 8-2: Palmacci, min. 4 (3);

DIVISION B

Tight victory leave all doors open for Belarus

The Belarusian national team will take on the Czech Republic tomorrow, with the chance of claiming the first stage of the Euro Beach Soccer League 2012 – Division B, thus securing a place in next August ‘s Promotion Final. Their tight victory over a combative Norway keeps them at the top of the table in Terracina, with six points, so whatever happens in this opening stage of the European league is now at their hands.

Bogaichuk’s lads found it more difficult than they imagined against the Norwegian side, and it was not until the third period that they could open a comfortable distance in the score. After a really leveled first stage, in which Melandez’s goal at the wrong end got found happy reply from Senja to leave things 1-1, Belarus got definitely in command at the beginning of the second period through Miranovich.

The turning point of the game came in the third period, in which Belarus secured a 3-goal advantage, both with the 4-1 and the 5-2. In the remaining four minutes after last hit, though, the Vikings kept going with their fight and managed a really uncomfortable time for the Belarusian, who saw the distance cut tho 5-4 after Hansen’s double. But things went no further that point in the end, and Bogaichuk’s side clinched the three points that secure the chance of fighting for the cup tomorrow.

Goals: 1-0 Melandez (og), min 4 (1); 1-1: Senja, min. 0 (1); 2-1: Miranovich, min. 8 (2); 3-1: Krupitsa, min. 10 (3); 4-1: Miranovich, min. 7 (3); 4-2: Melandez, min. 7 (3); 5-2: Bryshtsel, min. 4 (3); 5-3: Hansen, min. 1 (3); 5-4: Hansen, min. 0 (3)

Last breath free-kick gets Hungary fighting for everything

Just when it seemed that Hungary had few options in this Euro Beach Soccer League stage, after such a loud defeat as the one suffered yesterday against Belarus, the Magyar managed a great victory over Czech Republic to earn the chance of fighting for the Promotion final berth tomorrow. A free-kick missile with just six seconds ahead the final horn broke the tie and gave the Hungarian the prize they had been looking for.

Fekete lead his team determination during the first stages of the game, managing a sweet 2-0 thanks to two amazing free-kick missiles. That two goals seemed to redeem De Celis’ side after the lack of luck they suffered yesterday. Staying strong in defense, and dangerous up front, the Magyar seemed to be managing the game rather comfortably. Although Salak cut the distance a bit, Jaksa replied at the beginning of the third period to restore their advantage.

But that third period undeniably had Czech colour. Acknowledging how difficult the panorama would get if they lost to Hungary, the Czech Republic geared up trying to fix such an unhappy situation. Bocek and Hurab were finally successful on that, and equalized a game whose control seemed hard to get back. Forces were absolutely balanced during the last stage of the match, but when extra time seemed unavoidable, a terrific free-kick attempt by Besenyei got Hungary the points, plus the chance of fighting for the Division B first place tomorrow.

Goals: 0-1: Fekete, min. 9 (1); 0-2: Fekete, min. 7 (1); 1-2: Salak, min. 8 (2); 1-3: Jaksa, min. 11 (3); 2-3: Bocek, min. 3 (3); 3-3: Hurab, min. (3); 3-4: Besenyei, min. 0 (3);
