Kristall seizes Russian crown back!

The Saint Petersburg side edged surprising Krylia Sovetov in the final in Sochi after winning the two games in the final

Kristall are, once again, Russian Champions, after a hard-fought win over Krylia Sovetov, the surprising runner-ups of the Super League. The team from Saint Petersburg was perfect over these Thursday and Friday to clinch two wins and give their opponents very little option and claim back what Rotor Volvograd took out from them last season.

Krylya Sovetov, from Samara, got into the final after upsetting the not-so-long-ago uncontested kings Lokomotiv Moscow, and were one of the sensations of this 2015 Russian Superleague. So to prevent further problems, Kristall, defending Euro Winners Cup champions and 2013 National Champions lead a convincing victory in the first game of this final leg. With one win already secured, the second game had a better perspective for Bruno Xavier and co.

In that second game of the final, a dream first period had the team from Saint Petersburg ruling the final from the first stages. The 5-0 run in the first 12 minutes was too much to fight against for the “Wings of the Soviets”, who tried to climb back but could only shorten the gap. Datinha and Shishin, with two goals each, and Llorenç built a loud advantage, and Gilberto’s side, despite trying very hard, could only cut the distance to the final 5-3.
