Malvín finishes Copa de Oro as Uruguayan champ

The final stage for Uruguay’s Copa de Oro beach soccer cup ended on Friday the 29th of January with Malvín defeating Racing

The Copa de Oro is the Uruguayan early season beach soccer tournament that gathers the best clubs in Uruguay and pits them in battles over the course of five days to see who is the top club in the South American country. In addition to Malvín and Racing the clubs included Parque Cubano, and Cerrito, and the four teams finished 1, 2, 3, and 4, respectively. In arguably the closest match of the week, the eventual champion, Malvín, had to dispatch Racing by the slimmest of margins at 3-2. 

 

This year the action in the Arena del Plata stadium also included a stage for the Copa de Plata. The Copa de Plata is still awaiting the final matches and results, however after this past week, the standings are as follows: Boston River with 7 points, Basáñez with 3 points, Rampla Juniors who have 4 points and without a win yet is El Tanque Sisley. 

 

All matches began on Monday, January 25th, and finished on the 29th of January, a Friday. Many of the matches were decided by one goal, or less in the case of overtime and penalties. The final results are below:
