NASSC concludes after successful weekend

Virginia Beach, USA hosted the North American Sand Soccer Championships from June 6-8th and crowned Canada, among others, champions

The 21st edition of this international beach soccer event included over 10,000 pro and amateur players, spanned 22 full city blocks, and was played on 62 pitches. The weekend tournament included boys and girls divisions ranging from U9 all the way up to U19, coed divisions, adult recreational divisions, college teams, and it was all highlighted by the men´s professional division. The festivities also included beach tennis, wrestling, lacrosse, and a juggling contest.

In the Mens US Open final, Canada defeated the renowned Portuguese team, CD Nacional, 3-2. The Bronze medal match featured two teams from America as Rush BSC from Ohio defeated local team HRSC Elite 5-3. All divisions played until a winner was anointed  as players and fans alike were able to enjoy the entire event.

The continued success of the event speaks to the blossoming young talent in beach soccer not only in the U.S. but also all over the globe. The effort being put into the sport by everyone involved really shows how important beach soccer is.
