Together with Oman Oil, the Omani football governing body sets up a nationwide beach soccer scouting, with tournaments all across the country
The Oman Football Association (OFA), in partnership with Oman Oil, announced a nationwide talent search and community beach soccer tournament to be held in all the regions of Oman.
Every legend has a beginning, and it is with the very purpose of finding Oman’s next legend that the OFA, supported by Oman Oil, bring a nation-wide beach soccer tournament which is also a talent hunt.
The tournament, titled the “Oman Oil Beach Soccer Tournament” will be played in the Sur, Sohar, Salalah and Muscat regions.
Each leg of the tournament will be scouted by National Beach Soccer Coach Talib Hilal. He will then invite the best selected players to the camp to prepare for the Asian Beach Soccer Championships, where he will select the best among the best players. The tournament is open to all and is being played on 4 separate dates, one for each region.
“I think it is very important to contribute to the community and be responsible as an organization. Beach soccer is in the very fabric of Omani culture, one need only go to the beach every evening to see how much people enjoy the sport. Through this tournament, we can take what is a recreational activity and turn it into an opportunity for a young person to represent his country at the highest level. The kind of impact that can create is monumental.” said Jaber Sulaiman Al Busaidi, Corporate Affairs Manager at the Oman Oil Marketing Company.
“Beach soccer is a growing sport and the Oman side is one of its stronger teams. There are many young Omani players who are nurtured everyday on the Sultanate’s beaches but do not have the opportunity to achieve that potential. We are, with the support of Oman Oil, hoping to tap into the vast amount of talent and make those players realise their potential.” said Talib Hilal, Oman’s national Beach Soccer Coach.
Only time can tell which teams will be crowned regional champions and which players will make the cut to the National team. It does present however, one of the best opportunities for Oman’s talented beach soccer youths to achieve their potential.
