Only one way to do things: FIFA regulations

Football highest governing body restates that players and teams affiliated to a MA may not take part in non-affiliated competitions

The existence of parallel leagues, and non-recognized competitions, not affiliated to any National Member Association is an issue of great concern for FIFA. The highest governing body in Football, Futsal and Beach Soccer reckons that these competitions, that operate under no globally-agreed regulation generate a lot of confusion and jeopardize the credibility of the existing and healthy beach soccer movement, always driven through and by official and recognized member associations of FIFA.

In this context, a circular recently sent by FIFA signed by Secretary General Jerôme Valcke, reassures the obligation to comply with the article 83, par. 1 of the FIFA Statutes, which states that “Players and teams affiliated to Members or provisional members of the confederations may not play matches or make sporting contacts with players and teams that are not affiliated to Members and Provisional members of the Confederations without the approval of FIFA”.
