Paraguay reign in the Costa del Sol

With one match left, the Guaraní claim the cup after beating El Salvador, as Spain offer best version again against Costa Rica

The Paraguayan National Team numerically became the champions of this Copa Pilsener Fútbol Playa held in Costa del Sol. Despite there?s one match yet to be played, the Guarani win over El Salvador makes Cayo Villalba the winners of the competition, as none of the teams which could level their 6-points register has been able to beat them the face-to-face.

Despite Torres tried to respond to the crowd?s expectations in the opening of the game, Paraguay?s reaction immediately set what the reality of the match would be. Zayas, Herrera and Mena turned the score around to 1-3, and despite Torres, again, and Agustin leveled things back, Benitez?s header immediately restored the status quo on the sand.

Herrera scored twice again to widen the gap to 3-6, making the Cuscatleco dreams definitively crumble. Torres, with his third hit today, managed to pull one back for the hosts, only to find a new Guaraní reply.

The final 4-7 gets the CONMEBOL runner-ups on top of the table, with six points, having already won Spain and El Salvador, the only ones who could eventually parallel these registers tomorrow. These figures, then, make Paraguay the champions of this Copa Pilsener Futbol Playa 2013, and leave El Salvador the only chance to fight for the second place tomorrow against Spain.

Goals: 1-0: Torres, min. 8 (1); 1-1: Zayas, min. 7 (1); 1-2: Herrera, min. 2 (1); 1-3: Mena, min. 8 (2); 2-3: Torres, min. 8 (2); 3-3: Agustin, min. 5 (2); 3-4: Benítez, min. 4 (2); 3-5: Herrera, min. 3 (2); 3-6: Herrera, min. 10 (3); 4-6: Torres, min. 6 (3); 4-7: Mena, min. 5 (3)

Brilliant Antonio makes Spain smile again

Spain became Spain again in a consistent victory over Costa Rica in the second matchday of the Copa Pílsener Fútbol Playa 2013. A stunning four-goal record by Antonio Mayor and an admirable consistency were the assets brandished today by Joaquin Alonso?s side to run past the Costa Rican and aim for the second place tomorrow.

The Andalusian number 3 took today the scoring responsibility in the Spaniards, and it seemed that every single ball he touched ended in the back of Regidor?s nets. With two goals in the first period, and two more in the second, left things really uphill for the CONCACAF side, despite Mena?s 2-1.

In the last leg, three more goals definitively sealed the win for La Roja, with Llorenç, Pablo and Pajón adding their names to the score chart.

Goals: 1-0: Antonio, min. 9 (1); 2-0: Antonio, min. 8 (1); 2-1: Mena, min. 6 (1); 3-1: Antonio, min. 11 (2); 4-1: Antonio, min. 0 (2); 5-1: Llorenç, min. 8 (3); 6-1: Pablo, min. 2 (3); 7-1: Pajón, min. 0 (3);
