A brilliant comeback by Ze Miguel?s side merit them ruling again in the BSWW Mundialito of Portimão
Portugal found the best way to forget their Moscow nightmares and became the champions of the BSWW Mundialito 2012, after a great comeback over Spain. Proudly standing up again with a 6-4 after being 2-4 down in the score by mid second period merited the Portuguese side reigning again over the sand of the Praia da Rocha, and getting back a throne they been denied since 2009 by Brazil.
Despite Ze Miguel’s lads got early in command, thanks to Bruno Novo’s hit with just some seconds after kick-off, Spain struggled to get the reigns of this Mundialito decider. Their most talented player, Amarelle, was the one to level things back almost over the first break horn, with Antonio to hit again for the 2-1 in the second period. Those were the best minutes for the Spaniards, who perfectly stomached Madjer’s 2-2 to keep drilling Graça’s nets up to the 2-4 (Pajón and Beiro).
Just when things were getting too dark, the Portuguese side managed to prevail, mainly thanks to the contribution of their legend Madjer (three goals today which merited him the top-scorer and the tournament MVP awards), and the breath of a packed stand which got the team always elated. Three magical minutes had the hosts recovering from a 2-4 to a 5-4 and leading for the victory to seize the cup in this BSWW Mundialito. Spain would never find the way to Graça’s dominions again, and Bruno Novo’s 6-4 in the last seconds of the game certified Portugal’s return to the winning mood.

Germany knocks China down
The German National team closed their participation in the BSWW Mundialito with a sweet taste in their mouths. A prestige win over Asian Beach Games Silver Medalists, China, let them clinch their first three points in this historic competition. The best of it, though, was the way in which the Mannschaft got these points: with a really solid performance, built right from the very first minute, and displaying an amusing solidness and efficiency, Germany flies back home with the convincement that they have grown a bit more in Portugal. Now, Böringschulte’s team face a busy week, ending with the Power Horse Euro Beach Soccer League they are hosting in Berlin as of next Friday.
Ulle lasted just one minute to sweep his side ahead, and that advantage would backbone the German dominion all game long. The tight score got China always close on the score, giving Ross Ongaro’s significant chances to neutralize the German advantage for more than 15 minutes. By mid second period, though, Olli widened the gap with the 2-0, making things harder for the Asian side.
At that moment, Germany had grown significantly on the pitch, and despite Hao’s 2-1, they felt comfortable enough to keep scaffolding an important win. Indeed, Weirauch lasted just some seconds to brush away the Chinese achievement, helping his team reach last break 3-1 ahead. Böringschulte’s lads kept walking firmly past their opponents, and Weirauch again and Caste sealed the European victory.
