Simeon Hristov’s men are crowned national champions in Varna.

MFC Spartak Varna will compete at the Euro Winners Cup in 2017 after being crowned winners of the Bulgarian Beach Soccer Championship on Sunday.

Led by national team coach Simeon Hristov, Spartak overcame Saint Nikola Bourgas 4-3 in the Super Final after seeing off Iskar Sofia and KPFF MVR Sofia in the initial group stage.

Taking place in a brand-new stadium in Varna, Spartak defeated Iskar Sofia 4-3 and KPFF MVR Sofia 8-2 to book themselves a place in the final where they would face a Saint Nikola side who got past FC Ruse and Odesos Varna 8-2 and 3-2 respectively.

Following a lengthy regular stage season and the weekend’s Super Final group games, the title would be decided via a thrilling finale that saw hundreds of locals enjoy the spectacle of beach soccer played out by some of the country’s premier players.

Saint Nikola were on course for success when they amassed a 3-2 lead after 12 minutes but Spartak quickly demostrated their fighting spirit to battle back and ultimately prevail 4-3, claiming the title in the process.

As the new national champions, MFC Spartak will represent Bulgaria at the Euro Winners Cup 2017.
