Switzerland earn friendly win as domestic competitions end

Havana Shots and Chargers Baselland were winners in the country’s league and cup events.

Switzerland’s domestic beach soccer season drew to a close at the weekend with the country’s national team also in friendly action against France in Spiez.

Both the Swiss cup and the national league ended for 2017 this weekend, with BSC Chargers Baselland lifting the women’s cup thanks to a 4-2 win against Havana Shots Aargau.

Things were reversed in the men’s cup as Havana Shots claimed a 7-4 win against Chargers to lift the trophy for the first time since 2011.

Chargers and Havana Shots proceeded to dominate in both the men’s and women’s league competitions also, as the former finished top of the pile in the male event for the third year running.

Havana Shots successfully defended their national league title to ensure themselves a place at next year’s Euro Winners Cup.

The weekend culminated with an international friendly between Switzerland neighbours France, which the hosts won 6-2.

Meeting for the second time this year, following Switzerland’s Euro Beach Soccer League win against the French in Nazare, Angelo Schirinzi’s men once again came out on top.

Braces from Noel Ott and Sandro Spaccarotella helped ensure the win for Switzerland who continue to prepare for the Superfinal in September.
