The FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Bahamas 2017 starts walking

Kick-off meeting was held today in Nassau, involving FIFA, FIFA Beach Soccer, the Bahamas FA and the Bahamas Government

The FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2017 was officially set into motion today, with the Kick-off meeting held in the Atlantis Hotel in Nassau, Bahamas, this Tuesday 9th of February.

Despite the Bahamas Football Association and the Local Organizing Committee have been working for months already, this 9th February marked the first general meeting involving FIFA, FIFA Beach Soccer, the Bahamas Football Association and the Bahamas Government.

The meeting, which will be taking place for three days in the Bahamian capital, deals with a wide range of issues related to the organisation of such an extensive event as a FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup: infrastructure, transport, accommodation, promotion, team services, etc.

After the president of the LOC, Jeffrey Beckles, officially opened the meeting, Anton Sealey, president of the Bahamas Football Association, highlighted that “there is a lot of work to be done, but we are ready to produce a first class event. We know that it will be a landmark event for the country, and we are grateful that FIFA have put their confidence on us. We will not disappoint and will make everyone feel very proud”.

Joan Cusco, FIFA Beach Soccer CEO and FIFA Beach Soccer Committee member, thanked the BFA “for their commitment and support”, at the time he explained that “we have the opportunity of showing the world the best of The Bahamas”.

Jaime Yarza, FIFA Head of Events, also voiced that “we have a huge challenge ahead, but we are fully confident and looking forward for what I am sure will be an excellent FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup”.
