Vasco da Gama reign again in America!

The Brazilian side claim back-to-back Copa Libertadores following win over Club Malvín

Clube Regatas Vasco da Gama retained the Copa Libertadores crown, clinching silverware for the second consecutive time thanks to a victory over Club Malvín, from Uruguay, in the final of the competition. 

Despite the Charrúa tried to never los face to the game, always staying close in the score, the Vascaíno managed the score from the first period. After getting to the end of the second leg 6-3 ahead, the Trem Bala da Praia knew how to resist Malvin’s late reaction and made sure that the second ever Copa Libertadores flies to their Museum, to join the 2016 one. 

 

Universidad Autonoma clinch bronze

In the game for the third place, Universidad Autónoma prevailed in goal shower over compatriots Garden Club. The fight between the two top scorers of the competition, Guaraní internationals Carlos Carballo and Pedro Morán, fell on the latter’s side. 

Despite the 4-0 run for Universidad Autonoma in the first leg, and a 5-3 run in the second, Garden Club amazingly fought back in the last stage to add some drama. Their reaction, though, fell two goals short, and Universidad Autonoma bagged the bronze meal in this Copa Libertadores held at Asunción.
