Beach Soccer is conquering new horizons day after day, reaching whoever wants to get into it, wherever in the world. As a great instance of that, FIFA instructor Marcelo Mendes directed last week the 1st Women’s FIFA Beach Soccer course in Teheran (Iran). After the first contact with the participants, regarding coaching and regulations issues, the FIFA coach was impressed by the excellent knowledge of the sport of the Iranian women. “I was really surprised. They already knew the rules, and that allowed me to invest more time in tactics and technique theory”.
Moreover, the friendly exhibition match they carried on in the last day of the seminar proved there are great women beach footballers in Iran, with a notable skill. “They showed a good potential in the sport”, Mendes admits.
Good news do not end here, since the Iran Football Association is already getting the 2nd Women’s National Tournament ready, in which up to 12 teams of 8 cities will take part. After this event, the best players will be selected to build the National Team up.
