Spain gets ahead, Mexico on the pursuit

The Azteca achieved from the penalty spot two truly hard-fought points against mighty El Salvador after Spaniards beat USA

The Spanish National Team lead a solid comeback to clinch the first point in this Beach Soccer Worldwide Cancun Cup 2012 beginning today in the Royal Sunset Hotel beach. Joaquin Alonso’s lads  made their breed and experience prevail to turn around a score the fantastic Yuri Morales had unleveled for the Northern American.

The European side were the ones to hit first , thanks to Luis, who found the best way to celebrate his international debut. The Spaniards managed to keep that advantage until the break, but, right after that, Yuri Morales would change things to get the advantage to his team’s hands. It was a golden minute for the USA National Team, with their number 7 striking in both a good shot and a free kick attempt.

Things turned quite difficult for Spain, seeing how their opponent had learned to grow during the game to stay in a dominant position and close all ways to their nets. That brought to a leveled fight which kept the score untouched for more than a whole period, until another of Alonso’s new players, Sidi, equalized things back by mid third time. With the 2-2 on the score, both teams concentrated in not conceding any defensive mistake, which would certainly send the points to one side or another.

The Spanish side that would be, since Kuman and Luis took the best advantage of the last seconds in the game to secure the points that get Spain in the right path to head for the cup on Sunday.

Goals: 1-0: Luis, min. 7 (1); 1-1: Morales, min. 11 (2); 1-2: Morales, min. 10 (2); 2-2: Sidi, min. 8 (3); 3-2: Kuman, min. 1 (3); 4-2: Luis, min. 1 (3).

Mexico bends El Salvador from the penalty-kick spot

The fixture between El Salvador and Mexico turned into a true thrilling battle, with the two contenders presenting the spectators with an amusing spectacle in their debut match in this Beach Soccer Worldwide Cancun Cup2012. The game was packed with everything: excitement, spectacular goals, adrenaline and even a bit of controversy after some decisions by the referees. The fight between the two rulers in the CONCACAF panorama was that leveled, that only the penalty shootout could point who was to follow Spain’s footsteps in the tournament. And that were the Mexicans, who saw Hernández’s last attempt go wide to leave the points on their count.

The two captains, Agustín and Villalobos, perfectly embodied the clash between the two sides, with the two of them hitting the opponent’s back of the net twice, to make the score 2-2 by the end of the second period. Ramón Raya’s lads would take a better profit than Gallo’s of the first minutes of the last stage, building a two-goal advantage thanks to Mosco and Fierros. That unbalancing, though, was not enough to bend the cuscalteco spirit, who found the prize to their determination with two hits by Agustín and Walter that would send the match to the extra time and, subsequently, to the penalty kick shootout.

From the 9-meters spot, the Mexicans proved better aimed today. Only after eight attempts kept the score tied, Hernández did not manage to find for El Salvador the path Mosco had found for Mexico, letting the points stay on the hosts hands to get right after Spain in the tournament’s table.

Goals: 1-0: Agustín, min. 7 (1); 1-1: Villalobos, min. 0 (1); 2-1: Agustín, min. 11 (2); 2-2: Villalobos, min. 0 (2); 2-3: Mosco, min. 11 (3); 2-4: Fierros, min. 8 (3); 3-4: Agustín, min. 8 (3); 4-4: Walter, min. 4 (3)

Penalty Kick shootout: Fierros, Portillo saves; Agustín, Robles saves; Villalobos, in; Walter, in; H. López, in; Portillo, in; Rodríguez, in. Membreño, in; Mosco, in; Hernández, out.
