Mexico leads the table and heads for the Cup
El Salvador, after beating the USA in a brilliant match, and Spain, despite their defeat, still have options in Cancun
Mexico made their CONCACAF champions breed and strength prevail against Spain, in a match in which everything worked fine for Ramón Raya and his lads, to see themselves in an excellent position regarding their chances to clinch the trophy in this Beach Soccer Worldwide Cancun Cup 2012. A dream three beginning minutes got the match quite unbalanced to the American side, with Rodriguez and the local star Ricardo Villalobos finding Dona’s nets twice. But the Mexican hammering would not stop at that point, and Mosco would add his name to the chart by widening the distance to 3-0 right before the first horn.
With all these problems, the afternoon looked anything but easy for Joaquín Alonso and his team. They were not only forced to fight against a really intense team, but also to survive under a noisy atmosphere created by the devoted Mexican crowd, who wanted to let the clearly know that they would not stop backing the ‘Tri’. But, Spain is also a hard-hearted team, and they would never give up without fighting, as Llorenç proved when cutting the distance to 3-1 in the last breath of the second period.
Notwithstanding, and regardless the Spaniards kept pushing, no more concessions were given by Ramon Raya and his team, exhausting the European expectations as the clock went on exhausting the remaining time. Before the final whistle, though, there was still a bit of room for Mosco to close the match in a brilliant way, when sending a scissor kick straight in for the final 4-1, a really prestige-earning result for Mexico against such a stripe-boasting team such as Spain.
Goals: 1-0: Rodríguez, min. 10 (1); 2-0: Villalobos, min. 9 (1); 3-0: Mosco, min. 1 (1); 3-1: Llorenç, min. 0 (2); 4-1: Mosco, min. 0 (3)
A great last minute gives El Salvador chances to the cup after a brilliant game against the USA (6-8)
What a delicious spectacle the one set up by El Salvador and the United States in the match opening the second matchday of this amusing Beach Soccer Worldwide Cancun Cup 2012. The victory, at the same time, meant the first points for the cuscalteco side in the competition. Figures speak for themselves when trying to define what this beach soccer festival has been like, with up to 14 goals and thrill at its top until the very end. It was not only until the last minute of the last period, indeed, that a wonderful Agustín and Hernández unbalanced things for the best know “fishermen” in the sports world.
As expected, the match took off in a really leveled mood, and the stroke exchange between the contenders did not last to happen. Morales and Abraham counteracted the hits by Portillo and Agustín, making the score 2-2 at the end of the first period. It was on the second one when it seemed that the Salvadorians would get an apparently significant distance, with Elmer, Agustín and Walter managing a three goal gap and keeping it solid despite the USA’s attempts. Finally, though, Eddie Soto’s lads reaction happened, with Abraham, Morales and Gil making the score 6-6.
Then, when the most difficult stage of the way seemed covered, the USA National team managed not to keep the same intensity in that last stage, something Gallo’s side took a good advantage of to snatch the points thanks to the final hits by his wonder captain Agustín and Hernández. The victory lets El Salvador keep options to the title, as the right results combination in the tournaments decision tomorrow would get them the Cup.
Goals: 0-1: Portillo, min. 10 (1); 1-1: Morales, min. 8 (1); 1-2: Agustín, min. 5 (1); 2-2: Abraham, min. 4 (1); 2-3: Elmer, min. 11 (2); 2-4: Agustín, min. 6 (2); 2-5: Walter, min. 4 (2); 3.5: Morales, min. 4 (2); 3-6: Agustín, min. 2 (2); 4-6: Morales, min. 0 82); 5-6: Abraham, min. 9 (3); 6-6: Gil, min. 6 (3); 6-7: Agustín, min. 1 (3); 6-8: Hernández, min. 1 (3).
