Corinthians claims Campeonato Brasileiro

Timão bend Santos in the final of this maiden edition of the National Club championship, with Cruzeiro as third

Corinthians are the proud winners of this first edition of the Campeonato Brasileiro de Clubes. The Timão beat city rivals Santos to clinch the cup in the competition, prevailing over other eleven top-notch clubs on the sand of an amusingly packed Arena de Guarapiranga. In the match for the third position, Cruzeiro beat Botafogo, thus gaining a really remarkable result in the tournament.

With seven Brazil internationals, together with players such as Alan or Faberoff, on the pitch, the stakes were higher than anyone could even imagine. Expectedly, the game was absolutely balanced, and it was not until the second period that Corinthians could get ahead, with brilliant André hitting first. Fernando DDi, little afterwards swept his side a bit further ahead with the 2-1.

Bruno Malias could cut the distance a bit with the 2-1 at the beginning of the last period, only to find last FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup’s top scorer, André, hit again for the 3-1. Just a little onwards, the tournament’s best player, Anderson, wanted to have his say too, making things 4-1 and securing the Cup in Timão’s hands and delighting the thousands of Corinthiano fans on the stands.
