Four teams to vie for two tickets
With one match to be played yet, Morocco, Senegal, Nigeria and Cote d?Ivoire secure place in the semifinals after new victories
Great comeback virtually get Cote d?Ivoire into semifinals
Cote d?Ivoire secured a place in the semifinals of this FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 ? Africa Qualifier El Jadida. Despite being faced to a 1-4 disadvantage, the Elephants stunningly came back from behind to end up bending Libya and snatching the three points.
The Libyan caught the Ivoirians by surprise with three goals in the first three minutes of the game. Cote d?Ivoire tried to pull themselves together and reply before it was too late, but their first stroke was immediately counteracted by the Libyan, who reached the first break commanding the game 1-4.
Minutes were ticking down, and Cote d?Ivoire were finding it difficult to reach Bdiri?s nets. Dago pulled one back for the Elephants, but that was the only thing they could rescue in the second leg.
But things drastically changed in the last stage of the game. Sakanoko netted two goals to equalize the game and, when the match seemed to be heading for extra time, Ludovic?s winner sealed the go through for the Central African side.
After today?s victory, the Ivoirians will take on Nigeria tomorrow to see who clinches the first position in the group, whereas Libya are left with no options to access next round.
Goals: 0-1: Hani, min.11 (1); 0-2: Howssein, min. 10 (1); 0-3: Howssein, min. 8 (1); 1-3: David, min. 2 (1); 1-4: Mohammed, min. 0 (1); 2-4: Dago, min. 5 (2); 3-4: Sakanoko, min. 9 (3); 4-4: Sakanoki, min. 8 (3); 5-4: Ludovic, min. 1 (3)
Senegal hammers Ghana to access next round
Senegal will be in the decider on Saturday for one of the tickets to the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013. An uncontestable win over Ghana will have the defending champions again in the fight for the African throne, and, of course, for a World Cup berth.
Four goals were witnessed at the Plage Brija stadium just one minute into the game. Despite Ngalla Sylla?s opener was immediately replied by N. O. Lamptey, he himself would sweep his side ahead, with Koukpaki to follow to grant the Lions of Teranga a comfortable lead.
In that moment, the game absolutely fell on Senegalese hands. The defending champions kept heading up front, and the helpless Black Stars could do little more than stomaching the fierce outcome by Diop?s side.
Yet with one group match to be played, this final 11-3 leave no options left for Ghana, while seals Senegal?s go-thorough. In the game tomorrow, the Lions of Teranga will face Morocco to see who goes to the semifinals as the best team in group A.
Goals: 1-0: Ng. Sylla, min. 11 (1); 1-1: Lamptey, min. 11 (1); 2-1: Ng. Sylla, min. 11 (1); 3-1: Koukpaki, min. 10 (1); 4-1: Ng. Sylla, min. 7 (1); 5-1: Cheikh, min. 9 (2); 6-1: Thioub, min. 9 (2); 6-2: N.O. Lamptey, min. 7 (2); 7-2: Ndour, min. 6 (2); 8-2: Koukpaki, min. 3 (2); 8-3: Lawer, min. 1 (2); 9-3: Thioub, min. 11 (3); 10-3: Cheikh, min. 3 (3); 11-3: Fall, min. 1 (3)
Nigeria seal place amongst best four and sends Egypt home
Nigeria will not miss the battle for the tickets either, after bending Egypt in the second day of competition in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 ? CAF qualifier El Jadida-Morocco. The hat-tricks by Abu and Olawale got the job done for the Green Eagles, who will now tackle the head of the group against Cote d?Ivoire tomorrow.
A 4-0 run by the Adamu-steered squad left things fairly unbalanced by the end of the second period. The Pharaohs tried to hit back through El Agouz, but two more goals by captain Olawale for Nigeria blocked any eventual reaction by the Egyptians.
The two new hits bagged by Farouk Mohammed?s side fell way too short, and the final whistle left Egypt without the chance to parallel their performance in the last CAF qualifier, when they clinched the bronze.
Goals: 1-0: Badmus, min. 1 (1); 2-0: Abu, min. 11 (2); 3-0: Badmus, min. 5 (2); 4-0: Abu, min. 3 (2); 4-1: El Agouz, min. 2 (2); 5-1: Olawale, min. 1 (2); 6-1: Olawale, min. 1 (2); 6-2: Aly, min. 10 (3); 7-2: Olawale, min. 10 (3); 8-2: Abu, min. 10 (3); 8-3: Osman, min. 5 (3); 8-4: Aly, min. 3 (3);
Morocco access next round, too!
Morocco followed Senegal, Cote d?Ivoire and Nigeria to the semifinals of this FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 ? Qualifier El Jadida, thanks to a hard-fought victory over a never-surrounding Madagascar.
The Moroccan side had a sweet way into the game. Boulakouaba gave the hosts an early advantage, with Brigel to follow for the 2-0. The hosts were feeling in control, and Nassim and El Hamidy widened the gap during the first stage of the second period.
With the 4-0, things seemed pretty much under control for El Hadaoui?s lads, but Madagascar still found the room to make the hosts suffer a bit. Tiana pointed the way with two goals, and Bernardin pulled one more back to have things 4-3 and get his team ready for the final assault with four minutes to go.
Fortunately for the hosts, along came Nassim to score two more goals that brought some peace back for Morocco. The final 6-3 sends the Lions of the Atlas in, together with Cote d?Ivoire, Senegal and Nigeria, and denies Madagascar a new semifinals record.
Goals: 1-0: Boulakouaba, min. 8 (1); 2-0: Brigel, min. 6 (1); 3-0: Nassim, min. 8 (2); 4-0: El Hamidy, min. 5 (2); 4-1: Tiana, min. 3 (2); 4-2: Tiana, min. 11 (3); 4-3: Bernardin, min. 4 (3); 5-3: Nassim, min. 4 (3); 6-3: Nassim, min. 2 (3);
