Brazil and Mexico smile first

Hosts and Verdeamarela get ahead in the BSWW Riviera Maya Cup thanks to tight victories over Bahamas and Spain

Brazil beat Spain in opening

Brazil and Spain offered a tight battle in the opening game of the Beach Soccer Worldwide Riviera Maya Cup 2013, taking place in Playa del Carmen (Mexico) between 3rd and 5th of May. The match was fairly leveled until last period, when the verdeamarela finally took off, with four goals that left Spain helpless.

In his return to the Seleçao, André gave the game a brilliant beginning, with the 1-0 seconds after the kick-off. Little afterwards, Cesinha widened the distance, making everyone feel that today?s game could be an easily manageable one for Negão?s lads. But Spain lasted just some minutes to prove them wrong. Two goals by Llorenç leveled things back, and Antonio?s new reply after Rafinha?s hit got Spain the second equalizer.

But last period meant the final twist for Brazil, as four goals severely unbalanced the score and got the Tetracampeão the points. Merida and Llorenç?s hits could do little against the four pack managed by Mauricinho (2), Boquinha and Xixo. With the final 5-7, Brazil gets up in the table of this BSWW Riviera Maya Cup 2013, chased by Mexico.

Goals: 0-1: André, min. 11 (1); 0-2: Cesinha, min. 2 (1); 1-2: Llorenç, min. 0 (1); 2-2: Llorenç, min. 6 (2); 2-3: Rafinha, min. 2 (2); 3-3: Antonio, min. 1 (2); 3-4: Boquinha, min. 11 (3); 3-5: Mauricinho, min. 9 (3); 4-5: R. Amazing comeback get Mexico the win

Mexico brought their crowd a vibrant first day in this BSWW Riviera Maya Cup they are hosting in Playa del Carmen. Despite seeing things get really dark in the first two periods, a heroic comeback led by four-goal-scorer Isaac Rodriguez merited the Azteca a really empowering first win in the sands of the Mamita?s Beach Club. The thrilling battle between these two sides can also be understood as a first teaser of what the CONCACAF battle for a FIFA World Cup ticket is to be about as of next week in Nassau.

The Bahamian efficiency caught Mexico by surprise in the first minutes. Almost without enough time to even understand what was going on, the Azteca were faced to a severe 3-0, thanks to the contribution by Daniels, Hanna and St. Fleur.

It took a while for the Mexican side to find their place on the pitch, but the local hero Isaac Rodriguez finally found the way to Davis? nets, beginning the hosts? reply. Williams restored the three goal distance immediately, but Peña cut that off again with the 4-2.

In the last period, Mexico completed their amazing comeback, managing not only to turn the score around to the 4-5 but also reacting once again after Hanna?s 5-5. Rodríguez, who else, punished one last time the Caribbean resistance to clinch the points for his side. Only one goal has Brazil on top of the classification here in Playa del Carmen.

Goals: 1-0: Daniels, min. 6 (1); 2-0: St. Fleur, min. 6 (1); 3-0: Hanna, min. 4 (1); 3-1: I. Rodríguez, min. 9 (2); 4-1: Williams, min. 6 (2); 4-2: Peña, min. 6 (2); 4-3: Vázquez, min. 10 (3); 4-4: I. Rodríguez, min. 5 (3); 4-5: I. Rodríguez, min. 2 (3); 5-5: Hanna, min. 2 (3); 5-6: I. Rodríguez, min. 1 (3);
