Brazil are the South American Champions!

Verdeamarela claim first Liga Sudamericana after beating Paraguay in the final, held in Rio de Janeiro

Brazil were crowned South American champions this past weekend, after bending Paraguay in the final of the Liga Sudamericana de Beach Soccer de CONMEBOL.

The final, corresponding to the 2017 Liga Sudamericana, was held these past 5th and 6th of October at Rio de Janeiro Olympic Park, and saw the Brazilians win all their games against the Guaraní side, both in the Senior and the U20 sides.

Brazil and Paraguay had made their way to the final of this Liga Sudamericana after topping the two groups in the regular stage, held last 2017. In this final, the format was the following, with both the Senior sides and the U20 sides taking part, in a double leg final. The best of those four matches would become the champions.

And the best was Brazil, clinching four wins in the four matches to become the first champions of the Liga Sudamericana de Beach Soccer de CONMEBOL.

The top scorers of this final were Brazilians Paulo Saldanha (Brazil U20) and Rodrigo, together with Paraguayan Pedro Morán. The Guaraní national side got the Fair Play Award.
