Brazil see time for vengeance in Dubai

Verdeamarela and Russia get into to the final of the Samsung Intercontinental Cup again. UAE and Nigeria to fight for bronze

Russia storms into the final after running over Nigeria

Russia did not leave the field with their better sensations after yesterday’s game.  The UAE contested them too much, and the one-goal victory over Mendes side did not feel good enough for what Russians try to do on the field.  They had to get rid of this feeling the sooner the better, and today’s semifinal was a great chance to do so. In a new terrific Beach Soccer display, they run over Nigeria to secure their place in the final of the Samsung Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup Dubai 2012. Goal after goal, the defending champions set clear that they want the cup to fly to their hands again.

The second hit by the Russians, coming straight afterwards had a very special taste, it was Egor Shaykov’s goal number 100, a figure that clearly speaks about what an amazing striker Russia treasures. Shishin thought that two minutes was time enough for them to celebrate that and punished again the African nets for the 3-0. Ibenegbu bagged his eight goal to parallel Stankovic’s record at the top of the top-scorer chart, but that did not stop the World Champions tremendous pace, founding heavy reply by Eremeev, Leonov and Shaykov.

When the second time was heading for the final whistle, Abu dared to upset Likhachev’s side again, and he found again a tough punishment by the World Champions, with Shaykov and Ermeev hitting again to finish the game. To have broken a record and fired a hat-trick home seemed not enough for the Russian number nine, who widened the Eagle’s wound with the 9-2. The only sweet memory Adamu’s side can get from today’s fixture was their number 10, Ibenegbu, finally accomplishing to overtake Stankovic as the top scorer of the tournament. With nine goals so far, he will have the chance to try and make these registers grow in the match for the third place. His main competitors, Russians Shishin and Eremeev, will try to at least one-up him in the final.

Goals: 1-0: Ippolitov, min. 11 (1); 2-0: Shaykov, min. 9 (1); 3-0: Shishin, min. 7 (1); 3-1: Ibenegbu, min. 5 (1); 4-1: Eremeev, 1 (1); 5-1: Leonov, min. 8 (2); 6-1: Shaykov, min. 6 (2); 6-2: Abu, min. 2 (2); 7-2: Shaykov, min. 11 (3) ; 8-2: Eremeev, min. 7 (3); 9-2: Shaykov, min. 4 (3); 9-3: Ibenegbu, min. 3 (3); 9-4: Tale, min. 0 (3);

Brazil edge UAE to make the final again

The UAE National Team fell just two goals short today against Brazil, in the semifinals of the Samsung Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup Duba 2012. Guga’s side, then, will have the chance of taking revenge on Russia for last year’s two sensitive defeats, precisely in a city which saw them crowned World Champions for the last time. Verdeamareal’s way to the final was nothing easy, though, as Abbas, Rami Karim and co. were close to fulfill an amazing comeback. Fernando DDI’s terrific performance was mainly the key preventing that from happening.  The versatile player, who is gaining a huge weight in the Brazilian machinery, fired three balls in to undo all Emirati efforts today.

It was soon made clear that it was not to be an easy evening for UAE. No one expected that playing against Brazil, of course, but Gil’s crashing home a terrible free kick in the first minutes of the game was a tough way to make everybody understand. And things did not get better for the hosts in the following minutes. Fernando DDI and Bruno Malias pushed the score to 4-0, and Mendes’ lads could not find the way to do any harm to an inspired Mão.

UAE finally managed to shake off Brazil’s heavy dominion, and after founding the Brazilian nets in the last minute of the second time, they started believing once again. Soon enough, Rahid sent in a penalty kick ball to keep climbing the steep road the Verdeamarela had forced them to follow.  Another penalty kick got the Emirati even closer to the dream, but Fernando DDI crushed that expectations only a few seconds afterwards, chipping the 3-5 ball over Humaid. Mendes side was then unable to counteract this distance, and the final whistle saw them once again in the fight for the third place tomorrow, where they will take on Nigeria. Brazil, in turn, will have the chance of paying Russia back for last year’s huge upsets…

Goals: 0-1: Gil, min.  11 (1); 0-2: Fernando DDI, min. 2 (1); 0-3: Bruno Malias, min. 10 (2); 0-4: Fernando DDI, min. 3 (2); 1-4: Sidney (og), min. 1 (2); 2-4: Rashid, min. 10 (3); 3-4: Ali Karim, min. 2 (3);  3-5, Fernando DDi, min. 2 (3)
