Cape Verde Women's Team qualify for the World Beach Games!
In the Men's competition, Cape Verde, Morocco, Senegal and Nigeria progress to semi-finals of the African Beach Games in fight for one ticket to Qatar
Cape Verde Women's National team will represent Africa in the World Beach Games Qatar 2019, following a new win over Algeria that got them the gold medal at the African Beach Games. The hosts showed a great authority once again and gave the Algerian girls no chance at all.
Dreia Duarte and Carolyn Tomas, with four goals each, were too much to cope with for Algeria's defense. After resisting for the first twelve minutes, the game got absolutely decided after the first break, with Cape Verde widening the gap from 3-1 to 7-1.
With their second consecutive win, Cape Verde joins Spain and England as qualified for the Women's competition at the World Beach Games, which will be held in Qatar between the 12th and 16th of October.
Meanwhhile, in the men's competition, there is still one last step before the two teams qualifying for the World Beach Games Qatar 2019 seal their tickets. And four teams are still in the fight for one of them.
Following the last group-stage matchday at the African Beach Games Sa 2019, the semi-finals of the competition have been defined, with Morocco taking on Nigeria and hosts Cape Verde facing the defending African kings Senegal.
The Beach Soccer African Classico between Nigeria and Senegal got the latter seizing the first place in group B in the last round-robin fixtures. Despide the Super Sand Eagles tried to lead the way during the first half of the game, the Lions of Teranga turned things around, and a 3-0 run got things pretty much under control.
In group A, an even tighter contest got Morocco on top of the table, with a difference of one point. El Hadaoui's team needed the penalty kick shootout to bend the mighty Cape Verdian side, after an amazing game that ended seven apiece. The contest between both teams' number 10s, with three goals for Morocco's Nassim and four for Cape Verde's Ramos, brought on a thrilling battle with fourteen goals.
In the other games of the day, Algeria and Kenya could bag their first (and last) points in the competition, following two consistent wins over Equatorial Guinea (14-4) and Djibouti (10-4).
