“Clean the Beach” before kick-off!

The Organizing Committee and The Beach Soccer Foundation set up again a special activity before ball starts flying at Copa Lagos

Copa Lagos has always showed a great concern about the environmental issues, especially when it comes to taking care of the beaches. And it was no exception this year… Once again, a Clean the beach activity was hosted jointly by the tournament organization and The Beach Soccer Foundation, with the special support of FCMB, before the ball begins flying at Eko Atlantic City.

Everyone involved in the tournament took part in this special activity. All the teams, the staff, organization, the cheerleaders, the sponsors,… All in all, more than a hundred spent part of the morning taking care of the sands of the Eko Atlantic Beach.

Samson Adamu, Copa Lagos tournament director highlighted the significance of such activities in the environment of the tournament: “It is important to make everyone aware of the importance of keeping our beaches clean. They are a truly important part of our ecosystem, and, in a place like Lagos, they are a very important part of everyone.”

Andrew de Gruchy, Event Manager from Beach Soccer Worldwide, explained that “teaching the communities about the importance of keeping the beaches clean and healthy is a very relevant part of our job. It is not only about setting up competitions, but to show how to respect our beaches and take good care of them. This is the place where we live, it is our place, and we have to care about it“.
