Copa America draw held

Hosts Peru and defending champions Brazil know their initial opponents for the event in March.

Thursday saw the draw held for the CONMEBOL Copa America de Futbol Playa, which will be held between March 3rd and 10th in Peru.

In total, 10 national teams from across the confederation will compete, with the countries split into two groups of five ahead of the competition to be held in Asia District, south of the Peruvian capital Lima.

As hosts, Peru were given number one spot in Group A while defending champions Brazil take the initial place in Group B.

Joining the home nation are Venezuela, Uruguay, Bolivia and Ecuador while Brazil take on Paraguay, Chile, Colombia and Argentina in Group B.

The group stage will take place between March 3rd and 7th, with the play-offs for places from 5th to 10th to be held on March 8th.

The semi-finals will be a day later on March 9th, with the grand finale and the third-place play-off taking place on March 10th.
