England seals win with clutch late goals

The final match between England and Uruguay went to the hosts as did the 3 match set

The 5-2 victory for England over Uruguay was almost exactly how the hosts planned it. Almost. The Brits came out very strong but then let a three goal lead dwindle to one before connecting on two late goals to ensure the win. Uruguay played extremely well after falling behind early and nearly completed the very difficult comeback. England took two out of three games from the South American side and will next play on Sunday against Costa Rica. Uruguay will face Costa Rica on Saturday and will look to rebound.

England played the aggressor in the opening minutes of the match and were rewarded with an early goal. The rest of the British and Uruguayan efforts went unrequited and the period ended with the Three Lions up 1-0. The middle frame began similar to the first period as England scored an early goal and then fended off Uruguay’s attempts. Uruguay was pushed to the brink when England again scored early in the last period but with their back to the wall the South Americans got two goals back and pulled within one goal but were unable to overcome the two late England goals.
