First points are won in Rio!

The Final Stage of the Brazilian Championship 2020 kicked off on Wednesday

There were wins for Anchieta, Sampaio Corrêa, Flamengo and defending champions Vasco da Gama on the opening day of beach soccer action in the Campeonato Brasileiro de Beach Soccer 2020.

Captain Bruno Xavier starred in the first game of the final stage of the national championships, which saw Anchieta put seven past América. There were also goals from Portuguese twins Be and Leo Martins, as both netted twice.

Sampaio Corrêa scored the most goals of day one with eight, as Alisson (3), Renanzinho (2), Datinha, Gerlan and Paulinho all found the net to help their side beat Luziânia, who managed three.

Brazil international Lucao scored four (currently the most in the competition) for the Vasco da Gama, who beat Confiança by seven goals to four in their opening match, kicking their title-defending campaign off with a crucial victory.

In the final match of the day, World Winners Cup champions Flamengo tasted victory over Murici. It wasn’t the most decisive win of the day, but they stay level with groupmates Sampaio Corrêa on points, thanks to goals from Rodrigo (2), Igor, Thanger and Antonio.

No winners from day one will each other in the next matchday, meaning that we may see all four semi-finalists decided after just two matches, should they all win again…
