Hosts and Oman kick off Morocco Cup with wins

Iazal scores three as Morocco put eight past Ukraine on day one of the Morocco Beach Soccer Cup

The opening day of the Morocco Beach Soccer Cup in Agadir delivered nineteen goals, the first hat-trick of the tournament and a fourteen-goal thriller of a win saw the hosts give the full stadium just what they came for.

Oman v Germany

Oman enjoyed the first day of the competition with a win over Germany. The first goal took a while to come, with Jalal finding the net with just seconds of the first period to go. An equalising response came almost as soon as the second period started when Nisslien drew the Germans level.

But this was to be all of the goal scoring that Mattero Marrucci’s men would manage in this fixture. But it was another story for Oman, who restored their lead just before the second period finished and then managed to take their final tally to four, when Nooh and Abdullah both scored in the final period.

Three points in the bag, Talib Hilal’s Oman side can look to Saturday’s tie against hosts, Morocco. Germany will meet Ukraine at 17:30 local time in search of their first win in Agadir.

Morocco v Ukraine

A much-changed Ukraine side from the squad that played in the Euro Beach Soccer League instalment last weekend in Nazaré, took on the hosts in their first game, who were not about to go easy on their guests.

Morocco took an early lead and, when El Bidouri doubled it, Ukraine had to find a response to stop the game getting out of control. But respond they did, scoring two goals in rapid succession through Kryvoruchko Artem and Yevhen Petrenko in the first period.

Beginning the second period all square, it wasn’t long before Morocco were in the lead again as Nassim completed his brace. Once again, Ukraine responded to draw level, but a goal from Iazal, saw the hosts leading as the final period began.

When Iazal completed the competition’s first hat-trick, much to the jubilation of the local supporters, a comeback was beyond the Ukraine. An opening victory for Morocco puts them on the front foot for the competition ahead of their game against Oman on Saturday.
