Interesting changes in world rankings as beach soccer grows

Russia maintains the hold on the top spot but no one is safe as the heart of the season has arrived

The Beach Soccer Worldwide world rankings have been updated as some exciting events kick started the beach soccer season. The events included the Riviera Maya Cup (Mexico, Brazil, Germany, and the U.S.A.), III Juegos Sudamericanos de Playa (Venezuela, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Paraguay, and Uruguay) and the ITV Fever Pitch – Manchester 2014 (England, Costa Rica, Germany, Italy, and Uruguay) all fed to the changes from top to bottom.

The biggest leap was made by the Three Lions as England moved up 13 spots after compiling points at home in Manchester at the ITV Fever Pitch, playing 10 friendly matches. Familiar faces fill the top 10 as Russia, Spain, Brazil, Tahiti and Portugal seem poised, after big years and tournaments, to retain their rankings.

The coming months will have even more shake-ups in the rankings as the EBSL season continues and the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2015 Qualifiers begin as well. Every event and every match played over the past four years weighs into the rankings, win or lose, so there will always be changes in the list.
