Italy rides big 2nd period to victory

Final match against England was all smiles for Italy in Manchester after 5-2 victory

The 5-2 win for Italy over England was the last of the three matches the teams played against each other and Italy swept the series. This match began with both teams scoring late in the opening frame but then Italy blowing things open in the middle frame. Each match was emotionally charged and exciting, though Italy came out the victor. The English team will have more chances to earn their first victory as they begin a three game set against Germany beginning on Sunday.

The final of the three matches between England and Italy began very fast with such close call that even your razor would be put to shame, but the scoring did not begin until the final minutes of the opening frame, and both teams scored once. Italy struck early and often in the middle frame, when they turned a tie into a four goal lead. The Three Lions continued the theme of close calls but unlike the Italians, they were unable to capitalize. The final period was very physical and the English side was playing with a necessary desperation, especially on defense as they held the Italians scoreless in the last period. The Italian defense and keepers were spectacular throughout the match and only gave up two goals, both to Mitchell Day of England.
