Last four decided in CONMEBOL Eliminatorias
Perfect Paraguay join Uruguay in the semis in Rio along with Brazil and Argentina
Paraguay, Brazil and Argentina join Uruguay in the semi-finals of the CONMEBOL Eliminatorias Mundial FIFA Fútbol Playa 2019 with one game still to play in the group stages.
Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay have made it into the semi-finals of the CONMEBOL Eliminatorias Mundial FIFA Fútbol Playa.
These final four teams will battle for the two available places FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Paraguay, except Paraguay who are already qualified as hosts of the World Cup.
If Paraguay finish in the top two here in Rio, then the second spot at the World Cup will go to the team that finishes in third.
In their third consecutive victory, Brazil thumped Ecuador by 11 goals to two to retake the top spot in Group A, and will now face Uruguay to decide who goes into the semi-finals in first place.
Paraguay saw their winning-streak endangered by a stubborn Venezuelan side, but eventually took two points with an extra time strike after drawing four a piece in normal time.
In Wednesday’s other matches, Peru beat the eliminated Chile by eight goals to five, while Bolivia missed out 6-4 to Colombia. However, all of these teams are now out of the running for a place at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.
In a similar situation to Group A, Group B’s Thursday’s fixtures will see the already-qualified top two teams (Paraguay and Argentina) meet in a play-off for the group’s top spot.
The semi-final fixtures will be released once the finishing positions of the groups stages are confirmed.
