Traditional Senegalese costumes and celebrations marked the victory of Mbolo on Sunday
The Ouakam Beach Soccer Tour came to a grand climax on Sunday (12th of August) as the title was won by Mbolo.
They managed to fend off spirited attacks by Teuf Mamelles who were just pipped to the post by a single goal, as the final score ended at 5-4.
The trophy was presented to the team captain by the chief of the local village and the celebrations saw the beach teaming with people dressed in ancient tribal costumes mixing with others still wearing their football kits.
The scene was a heat-warming convergence of ancient tradition coming together with the modern day craze of beach soccer, to simply enjoy a good celebration.
We’re excited to see more competitions like this one in Senegal. As the beach soccer national team goes from strength to strength as Africa’s most decorated side, it is clear that they are able to put on good events too!
