Press conference gives starting signal in Alanya
City mayor, Adem Murat: “We feel proud that such a top class international beach soccer event lands in our city”
The Alanya Beach Soccer Cup was officially inaugurated today, with the official press conference held in the competition’s official hotel.
The four captains of the teams participating, Dejan Stankovic (Alanyaspor), Madjer (Sporting Portugal), Anton Shkarin (BSC Lokomotiv) and José Miralles (Levante UD) took part in the presentation, together with the mayor of Alanya Adem Murat Yücel, the directors of the local organizing committees Ferit Yücel Ergun and Adil Muftuoglu and BSWW Deputy Vice-president, Gabino Renales.
“It is a great moment for Alanya, and we feel proud to have this international event here with us”, said the city mayor, Adem Murat Yücel. “We look forward to have more and more competitions in the coming years, including, why not, one World Cup!”, he added.
Gabino Renales, in turn, wanted to thank the “Alanya Municipality and the Mayor for the interest and passion they have put in bringing a top class, BSWW-sanctioned event here. We have been talking during months, and they have always been very passionate about this project. This city, moreover, feels like a perfect venue for beach soccer”.
Regarding the competition itself, Madjer, who has played in the Turkish league for years, explained that “I am really happy to be coming back to Alanya, a place I know very well, as they have played for Alanyaspor for three consecutive years, and I know how beach soccer is experienced here”.
Anton Shkarin, BSC Lokomotiv captain, highlighted that “it will be a great event, with excellent players, and we are really looking forward to it, as we come here with the idea of claiming the Cup”. “We have an awesome level here, players from the top National teams, including Russia, Brazil, Portugal, Switzerland, Spain, Turkey… I can’t wait for the games to begin”, added Dejan Stankovic.
In the same line, José Miralles, captain of Levante UD, pointed to the great teams that take part in the competition. “We are honoured to have been invited to this competition, involving some of the strongest clubs and players in the world, and we will do our best to contribute to the great show on display”.
