Press conference held in Warnemunde ahead of EBSL day 1

On the eve of the Euro Beach Soccer League Warnemunde a press conference was held as final training sessions took place on the sand

With just one day to go until the Euro Beach Soccer League gets underway in Warnemunde, the local press gathered at the stadium to quiz some of the key figures from the German team.

Facing the media was Germany coach Matteo Marrucci as well as goalkeeper Robin Schroder.

Despite the difficult campaign that Germany have experienced in the league so far this year, failing to pick up any points in the EBSL stage in Baku, Azerbaijan, Marrucci was full of confidence in the development of his team…

“The difference now is that the team is more in shape. I’m sure of that. We may win we may lose but we are more in shape.”

The young keeper, Schroder, also offered some words of optimism. “With the German team we have developed throughout the season and want to go the next step. Playing an EBSL event in Germany, and especially in my hometown, is a huge thing for me. I’m sure the stadium will be full and fans will support us.”

He also had a message for his teammates from Rostock Robben, who had won the German league just a week earlier, adding, “I hope that lots of Rostock players come to the stadium to support us.”

Meanwhile, down at the stadium France and England came to together in an initial clash under the German midday sun.

They had agreed to spend some of their allotted training time playing a friendly training match. Check out our Instagram story for a sneaky peak!

The hosts Germany will need to come up with the goods in their home event, as they are currently in danger of relegation to Division B. France the only other Division A team yet to pick up a point in the league and are also at real risk of suffering the drop.
