A ninth and excellent edition of the Israeli national league season finished in Netanya over the weekend
The Israeli beach soccer league finishe its 9th year of action, and this year Kfar Qasem was crowned the champion of Israel for the 3rd time at the “Super Stock” arena at Poleg Beach, Netanya. More than 5000 fans packed the arena to witness a great day of beach soccer with the final four qualified teams, with 2 semi -finals at the beginning of the day, a youth final, a celebrity exhibition game, and the big finale: Netanya vs Qfar Kasem.
The title match opened with a great strike from the league MVP and top scorer, Yatim, which came in the second minute and it put the score at 1-0 to Qasem. The eventual winners got their second goal after a foul on the Netanya goalkeeper, Lemel, which was taken by Brazilian star player, Dino, making the score 2-0, just before the end of the opening frame. Netanya fought back and scored on a shot the Spanish International, Fran. The last goal, served as a useful insurance policy, was just before referee blew the final whistle, as Yatim scored his 13th goal of the year, and the match would finish without any more goals, leaving the score 3-1 for Qasem, who are now new champions of Israel.
The victory is made even more exciting as Kfar Qasem is not automatically invited to participate in the prestigious Euro Winners Cup 2016, a Champions League style event, comprised of the winners from European nations’ national league champions. Qasem was the representative for Israel in the Euro Winners Cup in 2013 and 2014, and the Israeli club reached the Round of 16 in the 2014 edition.
