Junior Negão takes control of the Verdeamarela
Beach Soccer Legend becomes Brazilian National Coach, with aim put on having the team back on top
Junior Negão has been named the new Brazil National coach. 47 years old, the former Brazil captain, considered one of the best players in Beach Soccer history, replaces Pernambucano Guga Zloccowick ahead of the Brazilian National side.
The official presentation of Junior Negão and his technical staff is to take place next Saturday, January 4th, at the training facilities of the Brazilian Beach Soccer Association, at Leme Beach, Rio de Janeiro.
In December 28th, 2008, Junior Negão put his 15-year career as a Beach Soccer player to an end, after 318 caps and 318 goals, being a key part of Brazil?s triple crown in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cups of 2006, 2007 and 2008. Now he is back to play his part from the bench, and expectations are really high.
The new coach knows perfectly what he wants from his team: ?Our goal is to get Brazil on top of the world once again. We have the best players, a lot of history, and we just need to train hard. We need to find our spirit back, our attacking style, that what makes us unique.?
The CONMEBOL Qualifiers for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 become the next challenge for the new Negão-steered Brazil. Merlo (Buenos Aires, Argentina) will put the Verdeamerela to a real test next February, 10th to 17th, where three slots for the Tahiti World Cup are to be at stake. Before that, two friendly tournaments during January on home soil will set the real level of this new stage just unveiled.
The Vasco-hearted knows how much is at stake in the upcoming months, with the race to the World Cup occupying a prominent place in the competitions to take on during the upcoming weeks. ?This is an important year for us. We must fight to recover our place at the peak, and to do so, we need to find the perfect blend of experienced and young players.?
