Brazil get to the semifinals...
...as Argentina, Paraguay and Ecuador bag the units today at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 - CONMEBOL Qualifier
Stroke exchange sends Venezuela home
Venezuela were the first team to see their options extinguish in this FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 ? CONMEBOL Qualifier Merlo-San Luis. Ecuador, with a winner in the third period, cruelly let the Vinotinto know that, this time, they would not be in Papeete.
Both contenders hit the sand willing to do their best to keep their chances alive. Cedeño immediately swept the Ecuadorians ahead, but Daniel and Ronal turned the score around before the first horn. The hit exchange went on during the second period, wiyh Ecuador hitting twice in a row to get ahead once again, and the Venezuelan side replying to leave the score leveled again.
Anything could happen in such a hard-fought contest, but Ecuador proved luckier. Gallegos scored for the yellos side, and Slatos denied what would have become Vaamonde?s 5-5. The final whistle had Venezuela out of the race to the World Cup, whereas Ecuador still keep some options.
Goals: 0-1: Cedeño, min. 10 (1); 1-1: Daniel, min. 5 (1); 2-1: Ronald, min. 1 (1); 2-2: Moreira, min. 9 (2); 2-3: Cedeño, min. 7 (2); 2-4: Bailón, min. 6 (1); 3-4: Anthonio, min. 5 (2); 4-4: Gianluca, min. 4 (2); 4-5: Gallegos, min. 3 (3)
Paraguay knock Peru down
The Guaraní Beach Soccer side bagged their first points in this FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 ? CONMEBOL Qualifier Merlo-San Luis after a solid victory over Peru. The Paraguayans arrived in Argentina as the champions of the Juegos Bolivarianos de Playa held last November, and their figures so far were not up to that title.
After getting in control of the game, with two goals in the first period, things turned smoother for Paraguay. Their opponents tried hard to break their resistance, but López would widen the gap with the 3-0 midway third period and, although Carrero tried to re-connect the Peruvians, the game seemed already decided.
Barrientos? last effort closed the score with the 4-1, a convincing result with which Paraguay will know tackle Argentina in search for one of the two tickets to the semifinals of this South American qualifier.
Goals: 1-0: Barrientos, min. 1 (1); 2-0: Pereira, min. 0 (1); 3-0: López, min. 7 (3); 3-1: Carrero, min. 3 (3); 4-1: Barrientos, min. 0 (3)
Brazil beat Uruguay and seal semifinals slot
A brilliant third period gave Brazil the lead of Group B in this FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 ? CONMEBOL Qualifier Merlo-San Luis, after a pulsating victory over Uruguay. The three points also mean the Verdeamarela will be in the semifinals.
The combative Charrúa spirit made the afternoon really tough for the Tetracampeão, despite Buru and Bruno Xavier built a 2-0 advantage in the first half of the first period. Uruguay immediately reacted, and began systematically cutting every distance the Brazilians might achieve up to Pampero?s 4-3.
Junior Negão?s side finally took off in the last stage, with a 3-0 run that sealed a new victory that not only pushes them to the top of the group, but secures them a place in the Semifinals, too.

Argentina snatch two points from penalty-kick spot
Argentina had to suffer a lot today to get two new points. In their game against Chile, the hosts of this FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 ? CONMEBOL Qualifier Merlo San Luis needed to fight a one goal distance back twice, one of the times in the extra time, to finally secure the victory at the penalty kick shootout.
Despite getting in control of the game for the first minutes, the Albiceleste saw the mighty Chileans get ahead in the score, thanks to Argote?s powerful shot. Franceschini equalized the match in the same second period, and Medero?s 2-1 with just two minutes to go seemed to be worth the victory for Petrasso?s side. But it was not, as Valenzuela silenced the amazing crowd firing a free kick home and sending the game into extra time.
In the supplementary 3 minutes, the Argentinean side and the thousands of people cheering for them at the Parque Recreativo feared the worst when Carrasco bagged the 2-3. Franceschini, after a penalty kick for handballing, rescued the hosts with just a few seconds to the final whistle.
The penalty kick shootout was the only way out to the game, and, this time, the Argentineans were the ones to clinch the points, thanks to Salgueiro?s brilliant save to Valenzuela?s attempt, and Medero?s perfect aim at his.
Goals: 0-1: Argote, min. 5 (2); 1-1: Franceschini, min. 0 (2); 2-1: Medero, min. 2 (3); 2-2: Valenzuela, min. 1 (3); 2-3: Carrasco, min. 1 (et); 3-3: Franceschini, min. 0 (et)
