Cerro Porteño and Vasco da Gama make Libertadores final

Semi-final victories see Cerro Porteño and Vasco da Gama make the final in Asuncion

The Paraguayans of Cerro Porteño and the Brazilians of Vasco da Gama will meet on Saturday at 17:00 local time to fight to be the new champion of the CONMEBOL Libertadores de Fútbol Playa.

Each made the final after beating in Monagas (Venezuela) and the Acassuso (Argentina), who will now play for a third-place finish at 15:00 on Saturday.

The grand finale is set for 17:00 local time, in the modern beach stadium of the Paraguayan Olympic Committee.

The matches will be broadcast live, through the CONMEBOL Libertadores Facebook page.

Cerro Porteño did not let the home crowd down and defeated the Monagas Venezuelans by three goals to one to clinch a place in the 2019 final and keep dreams of their first continental title alive.

The Cerro Porteño goals came from from Edgar Barreto, Pablo Benítez and Valentín Benítez, while Renny García got on the scoresheet for Monagas.

After an exciting 2-2 tie in normal time, Vasco da Gama claimed the second place in the final from the penalty spot, beating Argentinians of Acassuso 2-0.

El Almirante are in pursuit of their third competition trophy.
